Brent is 44% above last September
Brent traded at $96.90 on 4 September, down 2.5% on the day but up 11% on the month and 44% on the year. The pump price rise of 1 September was the Dubai end of it.
Lab-grown diamonds get their own desk

GITEX is a December show now

Knight Frank's half-year count puts $5.1bn of $10m-plus Dubai deals on the record for H1 2026 — up 16% in number and 14% in value on last year.

September fuel prices: diesel +13%
Super 98 is Dh3.80, Special 95 is Dh3.69, E-Plus is Dh3.61 and diesel is Dh4.30 a litre at Dubai pumps. Diesel is the number that matters, and not because of cars.

186 new developers entered Dubai this year
Between January and mid-August 2026 the Dubai Land Department registered 186 new real estate development companies — about 25 a month. 180 of them were licensed by one authority.
Dubai property sales reach Dh286b in H1
Dubai recorded Dh286.43 billion of property sales across 79,229 transactions in the first half of 2026 — an average of 433 sales and about Dh1.57 billion changing hands every day.

UNESCO inscribed Wadi Wurayah in July. The citation counts 1,099 species in the Hajar mountains of Fujairah — roughly half the terrestrial mammals recorded in the whole country.
Okefenokee inscribed
UNESCO inscribed the Okefenokee in July: the largest subtropical lowland freshwater peatland on earth. For a New York reader it is the rare World Heritage site reachable without a passport.
Aalto Works listed
UNESCO's July session put libraries, workplaces and housing on the World Heritage List — an argument about what deserves keeping that outer London hears every time an estate comes up for demolition.
